Get Your Toes Tapping with the Latest New Music Thursdays

Top of my playlist this week is 'Song for the Broken Hearted (Rollin)' by Berlin-based electro outfit Evvol. A dynamic synth odyssey that explores weighty, sobering themes with a radiant sonic-scape.

Speaking on their recent work, the band says that "These songs were written looking inwardly at how we cope when faced with challenges – escaping into hedonism and really just running from the mad, fucked up world we live in.”

London electropop five-piece, Nimmo recently released their track 'Orange Skies', from their new EP. The song is a slice of Nimmo's native London filled with spoken word verses, ominous bass lines, and garage-influenced drums. It's a rumination on mortality revolving around a passionate cry of 'Now that I'm here I'm going to show you who I am'. A great track, with parts sounding almost like Everything but the Girl. A really interesting track.

Up and coming artist Rebecca Taylor, AKA Self Esteem, has also shared a heavyweight version of a mash-up she recently pulled together for Jack Saunders’ Radio 1 show - taking The Walkmen classic ‘The Rat’ and merging it together with Lumidee’s ‘Never Leave You (Uh Oooh, Uh Oooh)’ for an absolute top-tapping groover!
