Creative Outpost chatted with its new producer, Péline about her background, passions and karate

Today Creative Outpost is meeting up with Péline Kilinc, a new addition to the family. It’ll be finding out about her experiences working at the top of her field, what it’s like being a karate connoisseur and her background as a performer.

Stand by, Rolling, and… Action!

Q> Tell us a bit about your background. How did you get into post-production?

Péline> I come from an acting background and I also studied cinema and drama in France so I decided to move to the UK. Best decision ever. I have always been fascinated by the VO world since I was little. I always thought that it was a small closed world I could never be able to be part of but it has always been in a corner of my head.

So, one day, I watched this movie: My week with Marilyn and started to wonder if the job ‘Runner’ still existed. I discovered that it did and that there are loads of them in London, so I started to give my CV out absolutely everywhere. I was very insistent and went back to every place every week until someone finally gave me a chance.

So I started as a runner, like everybody else, I guess!

Q> What’s been your favourite project you’ve worked on so far?

Péline> It's hard to choose to be honest. All projects have been very different from one to another. I really enjoy sound design sessions in general, they are very creative. It's also very interesting to work on versioning projects, I love working and hearing different languages, seeing how the transcreation turns into and how the emotions and delivery are transmitted from one language to another.

As a VO Talent.. Google Chromebook France. I am pretty proud of being part of this project to be honest. I live in England but my voice is on TV in France, how cool is that?! I have been working on very different types of projects as an actress as well, some music videos (for Sam fender or Bastille to name two of them), short movies, feature films and I even did some burlesque... I am half French, half Turkish and I worked on a short movie in Turkish recently as well, it was so interesting for me to work in this language for the first time in my life!

Q> What attracted you to Creative Outpost?

Péline> The variety of projects that Creative Outpost work on everyday, the enthusiasm of the team and the audio suites. They look amazing and really attracted me to begin with. And of course the carpet in the entrance. I noticed it straight away when I entered the building for the first time. How could you miss it?!

Q> Can you name a film or TV show you wish you’d been a part of and why?

Péline> Woah, there are so many. ‘Memoirs Of Geisha’ is my absolute favourite, I would love to have been a part of it in any capacity really. The soundtrack and sound design is amazing!

The ‘Harry Potter’ movies, of course. Any movie by Guillermo Del Toro again, for the soundtrack and sound design work. I’d also add the recent ‘Batman’ (2022) for the visuals, soundtrack and sound design again.

Q> What are your Desert Island Disks?

Péline> ‘Memoirs of Geisha’ Soundtrack, Marilyn Manson’s ‘The Pale Emperor’, Johnny Cash ‘American IV: The Man Comes Around’, any Schubert Symphonies and a Paolo Conte album to name a few.

A book... Hamlet by William Shakespeare (how cliché is that?!)

A Luxury item... Allure Chanel perfume (how French!)

Q> What would surprise people about your job?

Péline> Probably how creative it is.

Q> If you weren’t working in post, what do you think you’d be doing instead?

Péline> I would probably be working in production. Sorry if that’s a boring answer!

Q> Rumour has it you’re the deadliest person in the office… Could you tell us more about your experience with martial arts?

Péline> Ahaha well, I did a few years of martial arts and I still practice Karate, that's true. I am a very nice person I promise! Weird, yes, but nice… What happens in the Dojo, stays in the Dojo...

Q> Re the Creative Outpost Logo, are you Teal or Orange?

Péline> Oh, what a question! Today I am Teal, tomorrow I'll be Orange.
