Gerety Jury Insights From The UK

The 2021 Executive judging sessions are about to begin followed by live jury panel discussions around the world. RSVP for the UK event is here.  

Going LIVE on Thursday, June 17th at 2PM GMT, the jury insight panel from the UK is one of a series of unique events held around the world between June 7th and June 17th. They will discuss entries from this year’s Gerety Awards, which is the only creative prize to reward the best in advertising from the female vision. The UK panel is moderated by Nicola Kemp, editorial director at Creativebrief and includes:


Adah Parris, futurist, cultural strategist, systems designer and artist

Futurist, Cultural Strategist, Activist and Artist. A polymath and enthusiastic curator of people, patterns and stories. Long-listed as one of the Most Influential Women in UK Technology. In 2019, recognised as one of TED Talks Global Emerging Innovators. In 2018, recognised as one of the UK’s Top 100 Black and Minority Ethnic (BAME) Leaders in Technology. A creative problem solver who empathetically subverts the status quo. Taking a philosophical and anthropological approach to technology; merging logic and creativity to design immersive storytelling, learning and development environments.

 

Fura Johannesdotir, chief design officer, HUGE

With over 20 years of experience in the digital industry, Fura has worked on some of the industry’s most innovative digital campaigns, products and connected services. In her current role as Chief Design Officer at Huge, Fura is responsible for the agency’s design leadership across 13 international offices. She joined Huge from Publicis Sapient where she spent two years as Chief Design Officer of the Experience practice across EMEA, Middle East and Asia. Prior to her role at Publicis Sapient, Fura worked at R/GA for over 11 years, where she provided both strategic and creative vision for her clients and teams in New York and Stockholm.

 

Katie Jackson, managing director, TBWALondon

Once described as ‘Mary Poppins on steroids’, Katie joined TBWA\London as Managing Director in April 2019. With a proven track record of balancing speed with rigour, Clients and colleagues alike know her for her enthusiasm, opinions and penchant for telling it like it is. Prior to joining TBWA, Katie spent two years at Grey London running the agency’s flagship Marks & Spencer business whilst heading up their 85 strong Account Leadership department. She has also spent time as a Client, becoming Head of Marketing for luxury womenswear brand ME+EM in 2013, and had stints at Leagas Delaney, RKCR/Y&R and independent agency Brothers & Sisters, where she led the award-winning ‘Bears’ campaign for Center Parcs in 2015. Most excited by the agency’s core philosophy of Disruption, Katie is a huge advocate of using the Disruption process to solve Clients’ problems, helping their businesses and brands play a greater role outside of just their communications.

  

Elizabeth Valleau, global creative lead, Facebook

Elizabeth is a creative director, technologist, entrepreneur and (currently) Global Creative Lead for Facebook/Instagram. For nearly 20 years she's started future-forward practices in world-class agencies, produced award-winning creative and products, spoken on stages, mentored young creatives and even founded her own startup. She also leads AR creative development and products and is jumpstarting a bold new future of computing.

 

Stacie June Shelton, MPH, global head of education and advocacy, the Dove Self - Esteem Project

Stacie has been the Global Head of Education and Advocacy for the Dove Self-Esteem Project (DSEP) since 2016 and worked at Unilever for 10 years. DSEP is a set of programmes and interventions designed to develop and increase body confidence and self-esteem in young people around the world. She is driven by a desire to help empower the next generation of girls and women to reach their full potential in life. Stacie has more than 20 years of experience in public health research, programme & partnership development and project management. She has worked across settings in the private sector, government agencies and NGOs around the world develop meaningful behaviour change interventions and health education programmes on issues ranging from HIV, mental health, physical activity promotion, and adolescent health.
