Gabriela Lungu, Geometry UK's global creative director Diageo, has been nominated for the inaugural 40 Over Forty awards – a brave new movement that celebrates the value of experience in our industry.
According to a recent IPA census, the average age of employees in advertising is 34, and only 6% of staff in member agencies is over 50, compared to 31% of the workforce. The platform is an opportunity to take a step forward towards the goal of truly reflecting the society we live in.
Anna Dalziel, founder of 40 Over Forty said: "There hasn’t been anywhere to celebrate professional success and achievements beyond the age of 30 until today. That has to change. Mindsets of employers, and in turn employees need to change so that the being 40 marks the start or next phase of a career. Whilst we absolutely want to highlight youth in our industry, it’s time to celebrate the expert talent too.”
Geometry UK CEO Michelle Whelan has said: “We’re passionate believers that everyone must have the opportunity to succeed, no matter who they are. As an industry, we need people with different experiences and expertise to be future-fit. Creativity powers business growth and this only happens by having diversity of talent in the room and reflecting society in the content we create. Gabi is an extraordinary champion of diversity across all its forms and we’re incredibly proud of her.”
Gabi’s nomination celebrates a new step forward for our Diversity & Inclusion journey.Geometry, 1 month ago
