In an effort to encourage more women to run for political office, Geometry Global has crafted a satirical spin on the classic Dick and Jane early reader series entitled 'See Joan Run.' The book asks, in a hard-hitting, tongue in cheek way, why there are so many men in political office and offers the alternative of a woman successfully running. The book has caught the attention of Scandal and Grey’s Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes who recently tweeted about it, and one of the stars of 'Parks and Recreation,' Mara Marini.
The book, which was created on behalf of non-profit organization She Should Run, was rolled out in conjunction with a social media effort that asks people to do book readings and post them online, challenging friends and colleagues to do the same. People are also encouraged to nominate women they believe should run for political office on the She Should Run website. There has been a 300% increase in nominations since the book’s launch earlier this month.
People can buy the hard cover book in two Chicago bookstores and through SheShouldRun.org, on Amazon.com as a kindle download or as a pdf version from the SSR website.
