Another week, another mass of great work hits the LBB newsdesk and yet again we’ve picked the cream of the crop to share with you this Thursday morning.
There’s one story though that I’ve saved for Gabby’s word and that I wanted to share with you… ‘F**K This I’m Off To Greece’. Now, I’m not Greek, so you’d wonder why I love this country so much – but as mentioned in previous Gabby’s words, I’ve been enjoying the seas, beaches and food of this wonderful country each year since I was four months old. Which is why, after the excitement of the Olympics, I’m redirecting all my adrenaline and enthusiasm behind this great campaign from advertising agency, Mother London. This social media based campaign is rallying for Britons to support Greece by buying specially designed t-shirts, and donating directly to the healthcare charity Doctors of the World, through their dedicated Facebook page: www.facebook.com/ftiotg
. All users who ‘like’ the page are automatically entered into a competition where they can win a £2k holiday to Greece.
“We’re seeing a country [Greece] where pensioners are forced to rummage around for food in dustbins, and old men shooting themselves due to the economic meltdown there, and so we wanted to do something about it. The London Olympics have caused massive excitement here, and now The Games are over we want to get Brits to give something back to the forgotten mother of The Olympics,.” says Jim Bletsas, Design Director at Mother.
Donations to the charity can be made online via Just Giving and via sales of the t-shirt. The campaign is being run as non-profit and all the proceeds are going directly to Doctors of the World in Greece. I shall be collecting my very own t-shirt this week from Mother London’s HQ and ask you to please follow suit and buy your own. We’d love it if you could post photos of you wearing your new tee onto LBB’s Facebook page. Would be wonderful to know that the LBB community is behind such a great campaign. Thank you Mother London.
On another note, I also want to draw your attention to the recent RSA-produced documentary for the D&AD’s 50th birthday. Capturing the Black Pencil judging panel, this rare opportunity to see behind the scenes at an award show is certainly worth watching, check out the full story here
A wonderful week to you all, have a fantastic weekend and please, please, please, splash the cash and kit your family out with your very own ‘Fuck This I’m Off To Greece’ t-shirt. They’ll love you for it.
