Gabby’s Word 12 July 2012
I have some fantastic news and I’m desperate to share it with you. Last week, for those of you who read Gabby’s Word each week (and some of you kindly do, thank you) I not only discussed our new member to the editorial team, but I mentioned another new addition would be joining us this week. Today is her first day and I’m very happy and pleased to welcome our new Staff Writer, Laura Swinton. Some of you may remember her name and to jog your memory, Laura was formerly news editor at emap’s Shots Magazine. Since then she has been freelance writing and completing her MSc Foundations in Clinical Psychology at Bangor University, Wales. As an experienced arts journalist, Laura has spent many years covering filmmaking and advertising and with degree level Mandarin, intermediate French and basic Japanese language skills (yes, there isn’t much this Scottish lassie can’t muster), it’s pretty obvious that Laura will be a fantastic edition to the team. Please join me in welcoming her by sending her all your news and editorial suggestions:
laura@LBBOnline.com.
In the meantime I must also thank the companies that are part of the Little Black Book community. In order for us to keep the site and all its information ‘subscription free’ for all users, we rely on the support of these organisations to keep us going and I’m pleased to say that this year has seen our subscriptions and support steadily increase, most significantly, the rise in agencies that are now using Little Black Book. If you’d like to keep an eye on the newest and latest companies to join us, click here:
http://www.lbbonline.com/companies/. Off the top of my head, if I were to name a few in the last four weeks, then I’d have to mention McCann World Group’s global listing, CP + B, Mother, Taxi, Ogilvy, Publicis Mojo, Nylon, Kinema Films, Another Film Company, Bouffant, Smile, Getty Images, Velocity, HSI London, LOVE, Big Balls – just to name a few. I know, I’m showing off, but I’m so pleased with the encouragement by the many companies that have recognised Little Black Book’s potential and the many that have supported us over the years, that on behalf of the whole team, I have to boast… It’s ace and we’re all buzzing with excitement. Thank you and looking forward to many more joining our club, let’s make Little Black Book the most informed and up-to-date resource for the creative industry.
I’m going to be absent for the next two weeks. I’m off to visit friends and my little brother in the Greek Island of Kefalonia, fully abusing the free accommodation and cheap flights that are on offer. In the meantime, I leave you in the capable hands of my editorial team, Staff Writer, Laura Swinton (
laura@lbbonline.com) and Junior Researcher, Addison Capper (
addison@lbbonline.com). Please keep in touch with them over the next few weeks, update them on all of your news and invite them to your events.
See you in August,
Gabby x
