Piano Day is a worldwide celebration of the piano every 88th day of the year; one day for each key of the instrument. It is a day for all things piano, and Manners McDade is commemorating it with various live performances and these Friday Tunes.
This week’s Friday Tunes have been put together by the team at Manners McDade, each member selecting a few of their favourite piano tracks, ranging in genre from classical through to jazz and film music.
Manners McDade’s Piano Day live events include the Piano Day Daylight Music at Union Chapel on Saturday 26th March (featuring performances from Poppy Ackroyd and Angus MacRae), and an Alev Lenz event at One Good LIED a Day on Monday 28th March.
“Why does the world need a Piano Day? For many reasons. But mostly, because it doesn’t hurt to celebrate the piano and everything around it: performers, composers, piano builders, tuners, movers and most important, the listener.” – Nils Frahm (founder of Piano Day)
