Freefolk Welcomes Senior CG Lead Reece Weldon

Freefolk are thrilled to announce that senior CG lead Reece Weldon has joined the team to work on their growing slate of film and episodic projects.

Reece has landed at Freefolk from DNEG and has an impressive list of high profile credits under his belt including, Britannia (Amazon Studios), The Watch (BBC), White Lines (Netflix) and Black Mirror (Netflix).

Reece will be working with Freefolk’s head of CG Harin Hirani who commented, “Reece is not only an outstanding talent but a great human-being with a contagious passion for his craft. He is an invaluable addition to us as we continue to grow our longform department.”

Reece graduated from the University of Hertfordshire in 2017 after studying VFX for film and TV and then went on to win a place on DNEG's graduate scheme. His talent, work ethic and delightful personality have enabled Reece to quickly work his way up the ranks to senior CG lead.

I like to be able to know everyone on the team without feeling too distant and detached from the community. Reece sees a key part of his role as making sure everyone is assigned to the work that's best suited to their skillset, and to guide the 3D crew through the progression of the project. He said, “ I’m really very excited about my new role. For me communication and compassion are the most important things for a lead artist. It really is key to keeping projects and teams on track, it’s vital I make sure each artist is feeling good and positive about what they're doing. This fits in perfectly with the Freefolk ethos and I am loving being part of the team.”

Freefolk MD/EP, Fi Kilroe said, “We really are over the moon to have Reece at Freefolk. He is a superb 3D talent who has fitted in instantly. Reece has an impressive back catalogue of work but his enthusiasm to nurture talent, be part of a team and create award winning work makes him the perfect fit for us.”

Freefolk Film and Episodic are currently working on high profile projects for major streamers to deliver in 2024.

Other credits include, Fast & Furious 10 (Universal), Napoleon (Sony Pictures Entertainment), Winx (Netflix), Cursed (Netflix) for which they were nominated for a BAFTA Craft Award, The Third Day (Sky / HBO), Pennyworth - Season 2 for Warner Horizon and The Alienist (Paramount) for which they won an Emmy.
