Cut+Run editor Frank Effron’s most recent collaboration with visionary director Carl Erik Rinsch is a VFX intensive Nissan campaign that deftly illustrates the notion of a totally re-imagined car inspired by its DNA. The first of the series, for the Nissan Altima, is airing now; a 3D version of the spot premieres theatrically before The Amazing Spider-Man starting July 3.
Working closely with a powerhouse creative team that included Director Rinsch, Home VFX and TBWA\Chiat\Day Los Angeles, Effron lent his editing talent to a series of spots that speak to innovation that excites. In “Wouldn’t It Be Cool?” viewers are asked to imagine what it would be like if a carmaker broke the automotive mold, keeping the integrity of the original while using the latest innovations to design a new experience. First exploding the old, then rebuilding the new in 3D space a new Nissan Altima is born.
“Working with Carl is always inspiring,” says editor Effron, “He is wildly imaginative and very precise, both of which come together in some of today’s most compelling advertising. I can’t wait to see the 3D version with a theatrical audience.”
