Food for Thought is a social initiative that invites agency folk to donate their skills to help a charity or social business for two hours over lunch, in exchange for a nice meal.
The workshops aim to bring agencies together with world-changing social businesses, creating a fun and accessible way for agencies and employees to do good
Since the initiative launched in 2018, they’ve organised six sprint-hack lunches, each time with a different agency and social business. With briefs designed specifically for the agency’s skills and the needs of the social business, every workshop aims to bring the perfect match together.
This time, Food for Thought paired MullenLowe London with Ruby Cup.
Ruby Cup is a menstrual cup company that does more than sell menstrual cups. Their ‘Buy One, Give One’ programme advocates for menstrual health and fights period poverty in more than 41 countries worldwide.
The session brought together 16 strategists, copywriters and creative directors, with the goal of redefining Ruby Cup’s positioning, including a new tagline, and the best ways to communicate it.
In less than two hours, the working groups came up with four different approaches to positioning the brand; some beautifully crafted taglines; and lots more amazing ideas. One group even went as far as coming up with a campaign!
Not only do agencies earn karma points, but it’s also a great team-building exercise. Each workshop brings together people who may not usually work together, in a fun, energetic and fast-paced environment. Without a doubt, everyone leaves with a smile on their face.
As founders Marcella Tarable and Sina Hegny said: “It’s so important for agencies nowadays to enable employees to do good and purposeful work, and to offer inspiring experiences outside the day-to-day projects."
