Five by Five Global Announces Raft of New Hires

New appointments support diversity and inclusion in the workplace

Five by Five Global Announces Raft of New Hires

Following a sustained period of growth, independent creative agency Five by Five, is announcing a raft of new hires, including Nigel Powell taking on the newly created role of business manager; designer - Tiffany Gozal; art director - Dan Craig and copywriter - Charlie Dejean.

Matt Lawton, managing director, Five by Five Global said he was excited to welcome such a diverse and talented cohort to the team and was looking forward to seeing them hit their straps.

Lawton said: “These appointments embrace our agency’s mandate to provide a diverse, balanced and inclusive workplace. Nigel is 68 and has never worked in an agency before but having toured rock bands internationally for forty years, he has an incredible skillset that complements our team. When he accepted the role, I could not have been more delighted.

“Charlie will join our newly promoted art director Taylor as true young guns having both achieved Top 10 at this year’s Award School, I can’t wait to see the ideas that stem from this talented duo. Dan Craig joins from DDB as an art director and this is Tiffany’s first full time role in Australia so her young and enthusiastic nature adds to the breadth of diverse talent we already have in the office.”

Powell takes on the role of business manager bringing exceptional organisational and project management skills to the agency, garnered from four decades on the road with mega music acts including The Eagles, Lionel Richie, Bryan Adams, Kylie Minogue and even touring Yothu Yindi through the Arctic.

Lawton said: “As Michael Gudinski’s right hand man for several decades, Nigel’s life experiences read like a dream to me. He’s a fixer, a do-er, and gets shit done. He organises and does things properly: old school to the core, I cannot be more complimentary than that.  I’m sure our office will run like a well-oiled machine when we are all back together under one roof.”

The agency feels confident in the outcomes of harmonising the talent mix in terms of age and ethnicity.

“A desire to provide a diverse and inclusive workplace is a conscious choice,” said Lawton. “Every person, regardless of their age, cultural background, disability, gender, sexual orientation and socio-economic background deserves to feel like they belong in their workplace and be valued for their thinking and contribution.

“This sense of belonging will result in a stronger business, a better workplace and ultimately better work for our clients,” Lawton concluded.

The appointments of Powell, Gozal, Craig and Dejean are effective immediately.
