Organisations support individuals with disabilities, feed those that are food-insecure and relieve isolation among the elderly

As part of its annual Season of Giving program, Firewood employees from across its global offices were invited to nominate charitable organisations that champion human dignity, support local communities, and align with Firewood values of humility, authenticity, inclusivity, and (social) responsibility. Now in its eighth year, the Season of Giving program is a key initiative of the yearlong Firewood in the Field charitable platform.

“Season of Giving is a hallmark of our culture and taps into the generous nature of our employees,” said Kamron Hack, director of people and culture at Firewood. “This program gives our people an opportunity to share their passion for the community with our entire organisation.”

This year, Firewood is donating $30,000 to support these three employee-nominated nonprofit organisations:

Field Lane has a longstanding tradition of providing resources and services to vulnerable and often-overlooked groups. This UK-based organisation leverages its expertise to support individuals with disabilities and help them lead quality and independent lives, and its commitment to creating authentic, active participation for everyone embodies inclusivity. Field Lane was nominated by senior art director, Carl Tarry.

Feeding America is the largest domestic hunger-relief organisation in the US, vital to those who are food-insecure and those who have been made food-insecure due to the pandemic. With a nationwide network of 200 food banks and 60,000 food pantries, Feeding America exists to restore dignity and help others live more secure lives. Feeding America was nominated by senior copywriter, Mandy Haga.

Little Brothers – Friends of the Elderly (LBFE) is committed to relieving isolation and loneliness among the elderly, a mission that aligns closely with our commitment to creating meaningful connections. Covid-19 has the elderly at an increased risk of isolation and LBFE is working to innovate and overcome hurdles to ensure the elderly are being social and served. Little Brothers – Friends of the Elderly was nominated by senior proofreader, Carrie Hadler.

Each organisation will receive an initial contribution of $10,000 in addition to continued support throughout the upcoming year, which may include pro bono digital marketing, volunteer work, and ad hoc support. Firewood has donated nearly $350,000 to charitable organisations through its giving events while, in just the past few years alone, Firewood employees have devoted hundreds of hours in pro bono digital marketing assistance to more than 20 charitable organisations.

“At Firewood we’re deeply committed to caring for the underserved and underrepresented in our communities,” said Firewood co-founder Lanya Zambrano. “It’s an honour to be able to donate our time and financial resources to employee-nominated charitable organisations that are doing such important and much-needed work.”
