FCB New York recently named Sy-Jenq Cheng to executive creative director/head of art, a new role for the agency. Coming off a historical performance at Cannes 2019, the time was right to create this new position. Ari Halper, chief creative officer, specifically believes this role is critical for the continued success of FCB New York because with the globalisation of the world, it’s necessary for brands to be able to communicate in a universal and visual way.
Sy-Jenq has a unique and versatile resume as she doesn’t come from the traditional advertising or design agency worlds. She fell into advertising via design by accident, through W&K Amsterdam to be exact. Sy-Jenq spent the last several years freelancing as a creative director/design director where she had the opportunity to collaborate with clients directly and oversee the creative work for a variety of top brands. Prior to going out on her own, Sy-Jenq served as senior art director at Wieden+Kennedy London and Amsterdam, working on campaigns for brands like Nike (Europe): Pan-European & Global.
Sy-Jenq is thrilled to join the FCB New York family and help continue to drive momentum. She’s confident she’ll be able to positively affect change and apply her diverse background and skillset to create great work for clients across the agency.
