Fatal Farm Joins The Salmon
Two-year-old Toronto production company The Salmon has added the directing team Fatal Farm to its growing roster.
Fatal Farm is Zachary Johnson and Jeffrey Max, a self-described couple of “‘ol Texas high school friends” with a fondness for bizarre visual humour who have been working together for the better part of two decades.
Their work with brands including Old Spice, Snickers and Skittles has been well-received, with their appropriately offbeat work on Skittles’ “Apologise the Rainbow,” a parody of corporate apologies, winning accolades at several major awards shows including D&AD, Cannes Lions and Clios, as well as the Association of Independent Commercial Producers.
According to The Salmon’s founding partners and directors Adam & Dave, Fatal Farm’s work is defined by being hilarious, strange, and impossible to shake from its viewers’ mind.
“Fatal Farm suffers from a horrible disease called ‘Consistentitis,’ AKA ‘Never Not Funny’,” said Adam. “It’s not contagious, and as far as we know, not fatal.”
Fatal Farm began their careers among the first wave of internet content creators, whose contributions to internet culture include an over-the-top “remake” of the already over-the-top Paul Verhoeven film RoboCop, as well as Lasagna Cat, a live-action spoof of the popular Jim David comic strip “Garfield.”
They subsequently graduated to TVs big leagues when they directed several well-received episodes of Tim Robinson’s acclaimed Netflix series I Think You Should Leave. The duo also directed a number of episodes of Comedy Central’s sketch comedy series Key & Peele, created by Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele.
“Fatal Farm is one of the rare directors that somehow maintains their hilarious and surreal comedic vision despite the crushing responsibility of keeping the wheels of global capitalism turning,” said Dave. “We’re honoured to host their work on our server.”
