Working both in the commercial and music video worlds collaborating with such talents as Sir Elton John, George Michael, and Rachel Stevens, Carolyn is a director who brings her unique creativity and passion to every project she works on. Her work in fashion and beauty is legendary, shooting for such brands as Fashion Target, Head and Shoulders, McArthur Glenn, Moschino, Swatch, and Debenhams. Her meticulous art direction and seamless use of all types of visual effects give her work a truly unique visual style.
Within her first year of directing Carolyn was selected for the celebrated Saatchi & Saatchi new director’s Showcase at Cannes. Since then she has gone on to work with such agency’s as Wieden & Kennedy, Grey Worldwide, Saatchi & Saatchi, Leo Burnett, Publicis as well as celebrity talent that includes Leanne Rimes, Girls Aloud, Emma Bunton, Bryan Ferry, and numerous others.
“When I screened Carolyn’s reel, my first take was that this is some of the most unique and non-derivative work I have seen in years” said Mark Thomas, TWC’s Managing Director. “While all directors have influences, her style, in my opinion, has no discernable borrowed thinking, and that is impressively rare. We are thrilled about working with her.”
Born in Dorset, England, Carolyn’s childhood was spent unleashing her creativity on everything from nature projects and fashion competitions to her bedroom interior and cutting her sisters’ hair. She left home to attend Goldsmiths College at the University of London. While at Goldsmiths, she spent her time winning embroidery prizes and creating feminist textile art. Next she moved on to study at the Royal College of Art. After graduation Carolyn formed her own company dedicated to creating fashion, costumes, and sets. But it wasn’t until she directed her first commercial that Carolyn found her true calling.
“I chose to work with TWC because I was impressed with what they had to offer. They are a brilliant company that produces a diverse range of quality work! As an English director I love the fact that they specialize in representing international directing talent in the US market and have a proven track record.”
Most recently, Carolyn just completed a commercial for the launch of a soft drink called 'Red Grass'. The commercial was for the Russian market and was filmed in South Africa. She is also nearing completion of a fashion film for House of Flora, a UK based accessories company.
At TWC Carolyn Corben will join a roster of high-profile directors including Suthon Petchsuwan, Arni Thor Jonsson, Ken Lambert, Steve Reeves, No Brain, Erik Morales, Sven Super, Jeroen Mol, and Tim Brown.
