Baseball stars campaign for votes in Deutsch LA campaign
Playstation’s latest digital campaign, MLB13 Cover Showdown pits seven of Major League Baseball’s MVPs against each other to compete for the cover of Playstation’s new game, to be released Friday, January 11. But baseball stats alone will not decide who gets the coveted cover; this one is in the hands of the fans.
Fans will vote via Facebook and Twitter for their favorite player to win the cover, and claim a seat for themselves in the MLB13 stadium. To earn votes, the seven contenders have each made videos making tongue-in-cheek promises: Matt Kemp, for example, promises a not-that-personalized autographed photo that says the two of you used to play in the major leagues together.
The contest has already generated celebrity Twitter endorsements from the likes of Kobe Bryant, Eva Longoria, Mark Cuban and Alyssa Milano. Over 200,000 votes have already been cast in the past two days, and the interactive and competitive nature of the campaign has fans fighting for their favorite.
