Merman has announced the signing of comedy writing and directing duo BARBARA, made up of BAFTA nominees Ben Mallaby and Rachel Stubbings. Having racked up a number of impressive accolades during their time together - including LOCO 'best ensemble', a bunch of screenings on Short Of The Week and Vimeo Staff Picks - Merman has announced their signing and their first piece of work with the company.
Created by SNAP London, this piece of work for Landsec marks an exciting debut for BARBARA and Merman. It was written by associate creative directors Matt Hynds and Liam Wilson, and produced by Catherine Long agency side.
Landsec looks to be the first of many for BARBARA and Merman, and the company cannot wait to get their latest signings pushing on. So if you like your comedy relatable, unique and technically 'a bit snazzy', BARBARA is a safe pair of hands. Four hands all together.
BARBARA had this to say about their arrival upon Merman’s shores: "If it wasn't already enough of a dream come true to be signed by Merman and their team of heroes, our first job was with this belter of a script with the colossal talent at Snap. The whole process has been an utter joy and we’re so proud of the team and the finished film."
Independently of BARBARA, Rachel is currently writing on a travel show for C4, a comedy short for SKY, a sitcom for the BBC and a number of other comedy projects with Clerkenwell Films, BabyCow and Various Artists Ltd.
