Factory Originals is marking the fifth anniversary of the Manchester Arena bombing with a very special edition of their live music industry podcast 'We Are The Road Crew' which comprises of a series of unique, intimate and fascinating interviews with the road crew, technicians and support personnel, exploring the highs and lows of what it’s like to experience life on the road with some of the biggest bands and artists in the world.

In this latest episode of the podcast, respected music journalist Stephen Hill talks to Simon JP Thomas, an Award-winning Front of House Sound Engineer with over 30 years’ experience in the industry. Detailing his career journey to date, Simon recalls his early experiences working with the likes of BB King, Gary Numan, Echo and the Bunnymen and Moby.

By 2017 Simon had earnt his place as Front of House Engineer on US pop superstar Ariana Grande's Dangerous Woman World Tour. After a string of dates across North America the tour arrived at the Manchester Arena, UK on May 22nd and was enjoyed by over 14,000 avid pop fans, many of them families and children. At the very end of the show when the audience were making their way out, a bomb exploded just outside of the arena killing 22 people and injuring over 1000. Simon talks to Stephen about some of his memories of that appalling attack whilst also detailing his superb work in bringing together artists for the One Love Concert which occurred just two weeks later and highlighted the strength and resilience of the people of Manchester.

Factory Originals is a space where we create things that are new, exciting and innovative. Jess Slaney, business development and marketing director says: ”We collaborate with forward thinking brands and creators who want to tell great stories no matter what the medium, we’re constantly seeking out exciting stories and Creatives who are passionate about their craft”.

Creative director of the Podcast Ben Firth states: "Many average gig-goers are unaware of the effort and professionalism of the crews who work tirelessly behind the scenes to bring the audience the best live music experience possible. The 'We Are The Road Crew' Podcast provides that intimate behind the scenes access and gives you an honest insight into that unique world. We have had some amazing guests on nineteen episodes to date, and having Simon marking our twentieth episode honouring such a poignant anniversary is fantastic."
