EQ Bank Selects The Hive as Agency of Record

Creative agency The Hive announced today that EQ Bank/Equitable Bank, Canada's Challenger Bank, has selected them as their new Agency of Record, following the completion of an RFP process.

The Hive will work in partnership with the bank’s internal team to refine the strategic positioning for the brand, along with developing a new creative platform that aligns across the organisation. In 2021, EQ Bank (eqbank.ca) was named #1 Bank in Canada on the Forbes World's Best Banks 2021 list.

“When we set out to find a new strategic and creative agency, what we were looking for was a true business partner with the expertise and perspective on how to position a challenger for continued growth,” said Caleb Rubin, VP of marketing at the bank. “We are Canada's Challenger Bank; that's not just a slogan or an empty promise, but a part of our DNA. As a Challenger in their own realm, The Hive demonstrated not only an exciting vision for where we could take the brand, but also a uniquely collaborative way of working to help us succeed on our mission to drive change in Canadian banking that enriches people’s lives.”

“From our early discussions, we were excited by their bold vision for the future of banking in Canada," says Dustin Rideout, chief strategy officer at The Hive. “The banking industry needs challengers like Equitable Bank who believe Canadians deserve a smarter way to bank; one that delivers true innovation and value.”

The latest win concludes an exciting 2021 full of organic and new client growth for The Hive since Jared Stein (CEO) and Dustin Rideout (CSO) joined as partners. The agency also welcomed new clients Tweed & Tokyo Smoke, Sol, Clearly Canadian, The New Jersey Devils, along with additional new business wins to be shared in the first half of 2022.
