Sky Arts, the only UK channel dedicated to the arts, has recently combined Sky Arts 1 and 2 into one Sky Arts 'super channel'. As part of their relaunch they have produced a series of 10 continuity interstitials, post-produced by ENVY, championing their new 2015 programming.
Each two minute piece features a selection of comments from Joan Bakewell, Catherine Jenkins, Milos Karadaglic, Edith Bowman, Pete Townshend, Frank Skinner, Melvin Bragg, Vic Reeves, Jane Horrocks, Kim Cattrall, Lenny Henry, Jake Chapman, Sharon Horgan, and Johnny Vegas, about Graffiti, Jazz, Musicals, Opera, Photography, Rock, Sculpture, Theatre, Conceptual Art and Folk Music.
Vicki Matich, ENVY Colourist, comments: “It was essential to engage with the speaker of each interview which we achieved by judging the exposure and colour tints of the talking heads with great acuity - fortunately the lighting in the spots was excellent so this wasn’t a difficult job. But it’s not all about the subject – evaluating the background was just as important to balance the tones, de-saturate any distractions and/or add subtle vignettes, to focus the viewer’s attention on the speaker whilst keeping the backdrop looking gorgeous!”
