Glassworks has announced the appointment of Edwin Metternich as the new head of colour at the London based VFX studio. Edwin brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the team having finished an 8 year stint colour grading internationally with a host of prolific directors most recently at Framestore Chicago. Edwin joins the roster of award winning colourists at Glassworks and will work to further develop the department to offer a truly world class colour grading service.

Edwin has graded campaigns for global brands like Gucci, Audi, Google and Barclays working with top directors Spike Lee, Blinks’ Pedro Martin-Calero, Mike Figgis and Somesuch directing duo Luke & Joseph as well as leading cinematographers David Procter, Chivo and Christopher Doyle.

Notable film projects include Turner-nominated artist Zarina Bhimji film ‘Jangbar’ and the BAFTA award-winning British Short Film ‘Operator’, directed by Caroline Bartleet.

Edwin originally studied Fine Art at De Montfort University before progressing to Central St. Martins where he further developed his passion for creativity and the arts. He soon became inspired by the art of film colour grading and since being named LBB Top Colourists to watch in 2015 he has gone on to grade with an impressive roster of directors, DOP’s, agencies and global brands.

Edwin states; ‘Heading up Colour at Glassworks London is an exciting opportunity to create beautiful work with an exceptionally talented team of artists. I've long been a fan of Glassworks and their unwavering ethos of creativity and craft. I’m excited about utilising the experience I gained working in the States to further develop the colour department at one of the original, truly innovative VFX boutiques in London.’

Glassworks MD Aleks Ugarow adds; ‘I’m really excited that Edwin has returned to the UK to join Glassworks London as head of colour where his enthusiasm, vast technical knowledge, highly creative eye and fascinating background combine to offer a truly exceptional colour grading experience. Edwin is a fantastic addition to the roster of award winning colourists at Glassworks and will be available for grading across the London, Amsterdam and Barcelona offices.’
