Eardrum has been awarded a Gold Lion for Best Sound Design or Music for the Earphone Bully project they produced for Sapient Nitro, Brisbane. Along with Eardrum's Ralph van Dijk, Earphone Bully was written by Sapient's Marianne Harvey, Cristian Staal and Ralph Barnett.
Earphone Bully was also nominated for a Lion in the Best Use of Radio category, and impressed judges with its extremely realistic performances and 3-dimensional sound quality.
Eardrum was also shortlisted for a Skittles campaign produced for Impact BBDO Dubai. The win means Eardrum has won back to back Gold Lions in successive years at the Cannes Festival.
Earphone Bully is an online audio experience recorded in binaural sound that has been aired on radio and can be experienced online at www.earphonebully.org.
An initiative by Australian parents and with no corporate client attached, Earphone Bully been used by a number of anti-bullying organizations worldwide. Upon its release in May 2012, it was awarded Best Ads’ Best Interactive Ad.
Ralph van Dijk collected the award on Wednesday night at the Cannes Lions Radio Gala.
