Duncan Channon Wins Ferrara Candy Co.'s Black Forest Account

Independent Duncan Channon has been named creative agency of record for Ferrara Candy Co. brand Black Forest.

Black Forest, best known for its award-winning gummy bears with a soft, chewy texture, is a priority in Ferrara Candy Co.’s portfolio this year.

Duncan Channon will be responsible for strategy and creative to build the Black Forest brand, including launching a new integrated campaign in summer 2020. The agency’s first task will be a TV spot in support of a cause-based promotional campaign from Black Forest.

“It was clear throughout the pitch that Duncan Channon put Black Forest in their heart. Their insightful creative ideas and passion to help build Black Forest into the next great Ferrara brand stood out and matched our ambition,” said Kate Adams, marketing director, Black Forest & Fruit Snacks portfolio. “We’re excited to have such a collaborative partner to continue making Black Forest both beloved and well-known.”

The business was awarded to the agency following a competitive review in fall 2019. Duncan Channon currently handles strategy and creative duties for SweeTARTS, also in Ferrara Candy Co.’s portfolio. In 2019, DC launched SweeTARTS’ ‘Be Both’ campaign to reach Gen Z candy lovers.

“We’ve loved working with the Ferrara team on SweeTARTS for the last year and jumped at the opportunity to pitch for the Black Forest business. I mean, who doesn't love a delicious gummy bear that’s actually made with real fruit juice?” said John Kovacevich, executive creative director, Duncan Channon. “We can’t wait to launch the new brand campaign later this year and bring this tasty treat to the attention of an even wider audience.”
