Straight from SXSW, the documentary feature film Nothing Fancy: Diana Kennedy has garnered the Special Jury Recognition for “Excellence in Storytelling” in the Documentary Feature Competition, directed by Elizabeth Carroll. Sonic Union sound designed and sound mixed the project, with re-recording mixer Brian Goodheart, sound designers Owen Shearer and Rob Ballingall and executive creative producer Halle Petro. In addition to this award-winning premiere, Goodheart mixed the feature documentary “Well Groomed,” that also made its world premiere at SXSW 2019.
British ex-pat, author of Mexican cookbooks and cuisine industry standout long before the era of Chefs Table, Diana Kennedy devoted decades in Zitácuaro, Michoacán to teaching and re-establishing traditional Mexican dishes. The documentary traces her efforts to pass her legacy to a new generation of hungry upstarts, as the 95-year-old matriarch of her estate is aware that she has limited time left to pass on culinary education to her devoted following.
