DJ Jazzy Jeff's Summertime Anthem Gets a Stylish Update from Rizzle Kicks

Online retailer, Very.co.uk, has joined forces with Rizzle Kicks to revamp the iconic summer classic ‘Summertime’, originally brought to fame by DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince, a.k.a. Will Smith, back in 1991.

This fresh collaboration brings Summertime bang up to date for 2015, with a high-energy shoppable online music video. The video stars Rizzle Kicks and DJ Jazzy Jeff himself, alongside a cameo from gorgeous Very brand ambassador and ITV2 Xtra Factor presenter Rochelle Humes.

Filmed on-location in London’s Greenwich Park, the music video sees Rizzle Kicks pay homage to the original hit makers, by recreating the distinctive 90’s summer vibe, but with a Very British twist. The video is entirely shoppable, with all items available to purchase direct from the video, from the 90’s fashion collection to the homeware and picnic goods.

Available exclusively to download, the track to the video is available to the first 10,000 music fans who visit the Very site. The full-length music video can be viewed on the Very website and on Very’s YouTube channel.

With DJ Jazzy Jeff’s blessing and his iconic ‘Drums Please’ intro featuring on the new track, Rizzle Kicks have re-imagined ‘Summertime’ for a new generation. Combining the original chorus and intro with fresh lyrics, the duo has updated the song to be reflective of their favourite summertime experiences and memories – from 99 flakes, to London town moments.

As lifetime fans of DJ Jazzy Jeff and Will Smith, Harley and Jordan were keen to show off their tattoos on-set – with Jordan sporting a ‘Fresh’ tattoo on his ankle and Harley inked with iconic lyrics from the ‘Fresh Prince of Bel Air’ soundtrack on his forearm. Jordan even got to wear the distinctive ‘Go Speed Racer Go’ t-shirt worn by Will in the 1991 original, which is now available to purchase as a limited edition, as part of the Very collection.
