Fresh from directing YouTube drama Dun Breedin in lockdown, the television director joins Great Guns for global representation
Great Guns has today announced that Robin Sheppard
will join its growing roster. The British director, who has forged an illustrious career in television, will be represented by Great Guns globally.
After studying film and video to postgraduate level – and winning the Special Jury Award for her grad film The Thin Red Line at the 1993 Cork Film Festival – Robin launched straight into the industry to begin directing. Since then, she has been nominated for two BAFTAs – for a Wing and a Prayer and Playing the Field – and won a Grierson Award for Cherished in 2005. She was on the board of Directors UK for three years and has campaigned to champion female directors.
Robin’s career has seen her direct some of Britain’s most iconic television series, including The Bill, New Tricks, ad Benidorm. She has also directed episodes of Hulu’s original period drama Harlots, and Delicious, a culinary drama starring Ian Glen, Dawn French, and Emilia Fox.
Most recently, Robin has directed all episodes of Dun Breedin, a nine-part YouTube comedy-drama set in Brighton. Filmed and produced entirely in lockdown, the show explores the lives of a group of women who have bonded over difficult life experiences. Starring British TV icons including Denise Welch, Tamzin Outhwaite, and Tracy-Ann Oberman, the series followed all lockdown regulations, with the stars filming themselves in their homes whilst Robin directed remotely.
Speaking of her new signing, Robin Sheppard comments: ‘I’m so excited to join the Great Guns roster. Laura Gregory is a legend and I love how she’s always ahead of the curve – bold, innovative, and creatively brilliant. And she’s so much fun! I’m always up for a new creative challenge and I know that’s going to happen at Great Guns.”
Great Guns founder Laura Gregory adds: “Robin is an amazing addition to our roster. Coming hot off the heels of such a creatively challenging lockdown shoot, I know she’ll be able to handle anything that comes her way. We’ve admired her work for a long time and can’t wait to introduce her to our clients.”
