Director Robb Bindler Inspects the Art of Hat-Making

Director Robb Bindler has an eye for the artful, the original, the handcrafted, and the people who usher forth elements of wonder. In a new brand film for bespoke hat-maker Gladys Tamez Millinery, a place of unique artistry located in Los Angeles, Robb goes behind the scenes to meet the woman known for creating style that makes a statement. 

Gladys Tamez is a rare breed, one of the few remaining designers and makers of custom hats. Her passion is a combination of influences - the colorful, coded fashion of bullfighting, along with French fashion and film, and the world immediately surrounding her in her base of Downtown LA. Her studio is where Robb applied his own bespoke sensibilities to present this one-of-a-kind designer. 

“Gladys is on the world stage when it comes to her artform applying progressive sensibilities to a traditional practice,” said Robb. “She’s properly cool. The intricacies she pours into her designs show us how transformative the right hat can be.”
