Director Mar del Corral Joins Spindle
Mar del Corral’s work is informed by her acting background, a passion for honest storytelling and a desire to use her films as a platform for positive change. She champions inclusivity and empowerment, inspiring talent to boldly shine on screen through authentic, impactful performances.
Born in the Caribbean sea, raised in Spain and graduating the London Metropolitan University with a degree in Fine Arts, you could say that Mar doesn’t just belong in one place. She’s a globetrotter with a love for visual imagery.
Her journey into storytelling began as an actor, before organically progressing behind the camera. Since then she’s created award-winning music videos and a host of acclaimed commercial work. She has a passion for crafting honest films with a meaningful message, elevating less-represented voices and always approaching challenging projects with enthusiasm, warmth and love.
Her latest work for Adidas x Common Goal is a charity-focused campaign that drives social change for underserved communities. It follows real children and highlights how important community programs are to empower girls in football. This project follows a previous Adidas global campaign for the UEFA Women’s Champions League, where Mar captured the real-life bond between football legend Alessandro del Piero and his daughter Dorothea. The touching film was made to spotlight inclusivity of women’s football.
Alongside carious campaigns for beauty brands including Lancôme, Dove, Braun & Pantene, Mar also created a powerful spot for Freda ‘Cycle’. In support of Freda’s inclusive period range, we meet three LGBTQ+ advocates, discussing how gender inclusive language can make a big impact for people feeling safe and accepted in the world. The film was recognised in the Shiny Awards winners list amongst other industry acclaim.
Mar’s music videos are equally impactful. Most notably, ‘For Hemma’ integrates dynamic camera work into electric choreography, resulting in an emotional, intense experience that received a Vimeo Staff Pick and Ciclope award.
Across all mediums, Mar’s work is sensitive and sensorial, bringing honest and authentic stories to life. She is currently developing her debut feature film.
