Director Gracie Otto Points Lens Back On Brands

Photoplay is pleased to announce celebrated Australian director Gracie Otto is now available for commercial projects after wrapping up work on a slate of award-winning TV series and feature films
Grace's recent projects include her role as set-up director for Netflix’s Emmy award-winning series Heartbreak High. She has also directed the upcoming ABC series Ladies In Black along with collaborations on series for major international and Australian streaming services. This includes being on the directing team of both the critically acclaimed series The Artful Dodger and The Clearing for Disney+ and directing episodes of Prime series Deadloch.  
 
Grace's first narrative film, Seriously Red, premiered at SXSW in competition. A music-based Dolly Parton inspired dramedy, the film was distributed by Roadshow Pictures and Arclight in the US. When she isn't directing award-winning films and TV series, Otto is shooting branded content, most recently a series of stunning fashion films for Zimmermann involving huge set designs.
 
As the director behind the much-admired Bond’s ‘Gotta Be Bonds’, Vogue’s ‘Prank Calls with Elle Fanning’ and Maybelline’s ‘East vs West’ campaign, starring supermodel Gigi Hadid, Otto is eager to return to commercial projects this year.
 
Grace says: “I’m excited by the chance to collaborate with like-minded creatives and to work as part of a team with cool brands that champion Australian culture, diversity, and authenticity.
 
“Over the years, I’ve worked on many celebrity and fashion focused campaigns so I’m hoping to broaden my scope and to get more into the world of automotive campaigns, along with brand campaigns that highlight the amazing rise of women’s sports.
 
"From working predominantly in TV and film over the past few years, I've learned so many things that I can't wait to weave into my commercial work. It is exciting to dive into advertising again from a fresh perspective and with a completely new resumé.

“I feel like I can provide brands with the same thing their audiences are getting from their favourite TV shows. I want to be part of elevating commercial work in Australia by making ads that are cinematic, memorable and feel culturally relevant."
