My Accomplice welcomes director Basma Khalifa, starting immediately.

Basma Khalifa is a Sudanese multi-disciplinary creative currently living in London and raised in Northern Ireland and Scotland. Across all her creative outlets from her work as a Director, Filmmaker, and writer, Basma speaks to cultures, heritage, and sectors within society which she feels mould our future. Her work seeks to empower creatives and encourage others to explore their identity. Basma is well known for fronting her BBC3 Doc ‘Inside the real Saudi Arabia…and Why I had to Leave’ which reached an audience of over 15 million worldwide and earned her a nomination for best newcomer at the Edinburgh TV Festival. Basma has featured on various outlets such as BBC News, CNN, Sky News, ITV News and written for outlets such as The Independent, Stylist, The Guardian, and The Times. Basma has directed campaigns for brands such as Facebook/Instagram, Apple, BBC reels and Visit California. She has also recently finished wrapping her first self-shot documentary in Egypt. Basma regularly consults with brands on diversity and inclusion.

Basma said, "With all my work I aim to challenge and/or breakdown pre conceived notions of how society or individuals are viewed. To take a magnifying glass to the things we don’t talk about enough and to unpack them with the nuisance they deserve”.

Her varied disciplines as documentarian, social commentator as well as being a journo and stylist further feed into a fresh, beautifully crafted style of direction. Basma continues to use her platform to speak out about injustices and stand in solidarity with women everywhere.

Basma has also directed various campaigns for Facebook and Instagram, centred around social issues, and a short for Apple in collaboration with the Mayor of London.
