DigitasLBi US and GMC launched the new standard in HTML5 scrolling sites with a first-of-its-kind cross-platform experience for the 2014 GMC Sierra. DigitasLBi US engaged creative digital production company MediaMonks to build the website, designed to enhance the existing broadcast campaign with immersive sound and Hollywood-caliber computer-generated imagery (CGI).
The site gives users full control over their experience, allowing them to see, hear, and feel the advanced features of the all-new Sierra pickup, using:
- Dynamic Z-axis feel
- Context-dependent, scrolling ‘interactions’
- Originally-produced, full-frame scrollable HD animations
“There are more ways to explore a story than by scrolling down a single page,” said Marc Gottesman, Creative Director at DigitasLBi US. “The Sierra demands a digital experience that demonstrates the substantial, innovative, professional-grade essence that the vehicle itself embodies.”
"With the 2014 GMC Sierra, GMC rethought the design and engineering of what a full-size pick up should embody,” said Sandra Moore, Director of Advertising and Promotions for Buick and GMC. “It was only natural that we looked at re-engineering the scrolling site experience for our customers."
The Journey to Incredible: Redefining the Scrolling Site Category
The 2014 GMC Sierra was not only redesigned, but completely rethought. GMC engineers drew inspiration from feats of top-level engineering, including submarines, fighter jets, helicopters, and even the Hoover Dam.
With this in mind, DigitasLBi US, GMC and MediaMonks refused to make just another conventional scrolling site, opting instead to completely rethink the category. With its intuitive navigation and bold design, the site represents the same “Incredible Thinking” that produced the new Sierra.
