Didsbury Gin urges people to 'Stay Home. Stay Safe. Drink Gin.' after Ocean Outdoor launches an advertising fund of £10million to support those most severely affected by Covid-19

Didsbury Gin Gets in the Spirit of Lockdown with DOOH Campaign
Manchester based gin producer, Didsbury Gin, has been able to launch its first Out of Home campaign thanks to the generosity of Ocean Outdoor.

Ocean has launched an advertising fund of £10million to offer support to the retailers and SMEs most severely affected by the Coronavirus crisis. The fund offers access to advertising space across Ocean screens in 12 UK cities. Didsbury Gin was selected as a beneficiary after having converted its operations to produce hand sanitiser for key public service providers across Greater Manchester including the NHS, Great Manchester police, local fire services, and other care providers, including homeless shelters.

The new Spirit of Life campaign, captures the spirit of the nation as they enjoy time with their loved ones in their own home, as well as those friends and family they can’t be with, be it through video chats, online quizzes or virtual Friday night drinks. The campaign also has a serious message to deliver as the distinctive ‘D’ that appears on Didsbury Gin bottles is used to reiterate the government message to wash your hands, social distance, and stay at home – hopefully with a gin!

There are four different posters in the series, designed by Daniel Bickerton which use the colours of the branding used on pack for the different gin flavours. They will appear across Greater Manchester from 4th to 16th May. Millions are expected to view the campaign as one in three people are unable to work from home and 67% of people are still going out, be it to buy food and essential supplies or to exercise.

Liam Manton, co-founder at Didsbury Gin, says: “The last few months have been a whirlwind for us. Moving quickly to switch our operations to produce one million bottles of sanitiser in the space of seven days was no mean feat, but it’s really important in unprecedented times like these that we support one another. Now we’re grateful to have received this support from Ocean Outdoor in return. We haven’t let these challenging times dampen our spirit or creativity – and we’re really proud of this campaign. Hopefully it will help drive sales on our website, which we’re reliant on now more than ever.”
