Campaign from krow sees a child scouring the beach near his home for plastic waste showing the importance of sustainability and using responsibly sourced materials

DFS’s new Grand Designs eco-friendly sofa range showcases that new furniture is not just about making your place look nice, it’s also about planning for a sustainable future.

In the latest TV ad spot, a child scours the beach near his home for plastic waste until, exhausted, he is carried home by his mum and set down to rest on a stunning Grand Designs sofa. A voiceover says ‘Designed with our future in mind. Made from recycled plastics and sustainable materials. Grand Designs sofas, exclusively at DFS.”

The 30 second spot breaks on April 5th and will run on TV for nine weeks, supported by executions in print, digital and on the brands’ social media accounts. The campaign’s start date is timed to create excitement ahead of the reopening of all non-essential retail stores on the 12th April.

Nick Ashworth, marketing director of DFS says: “Consumers are increasingly interested in how products are made and what impact the products they’re purchasing have on the environment. This is the coming together of two brands that care about this too and the result is a furniture range that combines stylish designs with sustainable credentials. The launch campaign encapsulates both elements in an emotive way.”

John Quarrey, CEO of krow Group says: “The new campaign is an amazing way to highlight the bigger picture around how things can be responsibly sourced and made. Sustainability is a huge topic today and as we head toward events like COP later this year, it will be on more people’s minds as they make their purchasing decisions.”
