Deutsch New York’s Chief Strategy Officer, Andrew Dawson, announced the appointment of Rachel Mercer as VP, Digital Strategy Director. She will be charged with helping to grow the agency’s digital, social and innovation strategy practice – working on clients including Sherwin-Williams and PNC Bank. Reporting directly to Dawson, May 31 is her first day. Mercer replaces Scott Lindenbaum who is transferring to the LA office as SVP, Director of Digital Strategy, Products and Platforms, effective June 6.
“Rachel’s talent was so immediate, my first thought was, I wish she started yesterday,” said Dawson. “She has diverse strategic experience, ranging from innovation consulting work to both digital and traditional strategy, as well as being a genuinely multifaceted thinker, collaborator and leader.”
Most recently, Mercer was the Strategy & Innovation Director at The Upside and, prior to that, she was with Made by Many in London, leading development, user insights, strategy and multipartner relationships.
Before her move across the pond, Mercer worked in Deutsch’s LA office. While there, she was named one of Business Insiders “Most Creative Under 30.” Her achievements include the development of the Esurance Fuelcaster mobile Web app, incorporating pricing signals from industry sources to estimate whether gas prices will rise or fall in a specific zip code – this was one of the first products that the inventioni.st team put out in the world.
In addition, Mercer has designed and developed products at companies such as CP+B and Mobelux.
