Dazed has announced Music Nation, a five-part music documentary series commissioned by Channel 4.
This landmark series consists of 30-minute films documenting cult music scenes from the last 20 years. This series marks Dazed’s move into broadcast TV and advertising-funded programming. Executive Producer Ravi Amaratunga states that he is "thrilled to be able to create genuinely authentic and authored music series that stays true to the stories behind these amazing scenes, which have helped define British culture as a whole."
Tabitha Denholm explores Berkshire’s contribution to a cultural revolution inspired by a trip that four DJ’s took in 1987 to Ibiza. After returning from an ecstasy-infused musical journey where Euro-pop harmonised with House and Indie resonated with industrial beats, the DJ’s were inspired to bring Balearic back to Britain. Tabitha Denholm recounts the spread of Ibiza-styled hedonism throughout the home counties, through a mix of personal stories and archive footage.
The Episode, produced by Partizan will be aired on Thursday 10th April at 12:05Am and will be available to watch on Dazed Digital on Thursday 17th April.
Today on Dazed there is a Balearic takeover to celebrate the episode: http://www.dazeddigital.com/tag/balearic
