BBH & Sonny's Guy Manwaring spot sees actor reunited with Sir Richard Branson

David Tennant and Sir Richard Branson have returned for Virgin Media’s latest multi-million pound advertising campaign, which celebrates the unbeatable range of movies and huge collection of TV series ready to watch on Virgin Media’s award-winning TiVo® service. The campaign will hit TV screens during Channel 4’s primetime Grand Designs on 2nd November at 8.30pm.

The TV ad starts with Tennant standing in the dark declaring his love for horror films, but he realises the audience might be in the mood to watch something else. So he twirls his way through a shower of rose petals while talking about rom coms and rips open his shirt in a parody of a superhero. But he still can’t make up his mind about what to watch, so TiVo from Virgin Media comes to the rescue with its vast line-up from Virgin Movies, Sky Movies, PictureBox and soon Netflix too, as well as channels such as Film 4 and TCM.

The accompanying online ad finds Tennant in the ‘white room’ surroundings familiar from previous campaigns. This time he’s surrounded by dozens of feline friends. A bemused Tennant asks the audience if they look at online cat videos when they’re bored before pointing out that, with the thousands of hours of entire TV box sets available on Virgin Media TiVo, they need never watch a cat video again – unless they really want.

Richard Larcombe, brand and marketing director at Virgin Media, said: “David and Richard are a blockbuster duo so we’re excited to have them back for our latest campaign, celebrating the unbeatable choice of movies and TV box sets available on Virgin Media TiVo. We always want to bring a sense of fun to our ads and working with them and a room full of unusually well-behaved cats raised quite a few grins. These ads are set to build on the success we’ve enjoyed with previous high profile campaigns featuring David and Richard and, of course, Stephen Fry, Mo Farah and Usain Bolt.”

The campaign was created by BBH with media planning handled by Fifty6, and will run across TV and online.
