Kate Howe, president of Draftfcb in the UK and in Europe, has announced today the appointment of David Harris as Executive Creative Director of the London agency.
“David’s outstanding experience in integrated communications and belief in the power of great storytelling are perfect for our clients and agency,” said Howe. “Creative excellence in all channels is our focus and David appealed because on every single brief he looks for the additional opportunities to do more than was expected and play it across all media. I'm thrilled to welcome such a highly awarded and respected creative director to our ranks.”
Harris, who will become a member of Draftfcb’s European Creative Council chaired by European Chief Creative Officer Luis Silva Dias, will lead a strong creative department which includes Digital Creative Director Steven Bennett-Day, who joined the agency last August.
During his career, Harris has worked comfortably across all advertising channels for iconic brands such as Nestlé, Nokia, Microsoft, Pringles, Schwartz, British Airways, RBS/NatWest and Great Ormond Street Hospital. He was most recently Executive Creative Director at Wunderman, a role he took on in 2007 after leaving LIDA, M&C’s integrated agency, which he co-founded in 1999 with Lisa Thomas. Harris started his career as an art director working at ad agencies such as McCann Erickson, Geers Gross and Allen, Brady and Marsh before becoming Creative Director at IMP, where he took the agency to the top of Campaign’s Direct Creativity league.
Highly awarded, Harris’ work has won national and international creative accolades, as well as IPA and Marketing Week effectiveness awards. This year, he chaired the creative jury at the MAA awards and he has judged other major awards, including D&AD, Campaign and Eurobest. In 2010, he gave the Wunderman seminar at Cannes, which led to him working in collaboration with Richard Curtis. Together they launched the END7 charity with the Sabine Vaccine Institute, which picked up a coveted YouTube award last week.
“I am very excited by the huge creative potential of Draftfcb’s portfolio and can’t wait to join the team in supporting and enhancing the agency’s fully integrated model,” said Harris.
