Matt Brown founds new London-based production company

Dark Energy Opens Its Doors

Former Generator EP Matt Brown has opened the doors of his own production company, Dark Energy.

Already boasting an impressive roster of established and emerging talent, Dark Energy has got off to a flying start with six projects already under its belt.

The roster includes Jamie Childs, Runar Ingi, Arni Thor Jonsson, Lalli Jonsson, Matt McDermott, James Strong BAFTA nominated director of Broadchurch,  and new signing David Stoddart.

Matt has had considerable success with introducing drama directors into commercials most notably James Strong and new signing David Stoddart who has just completed his first commercial for Ryan Air through Dare London.

Dark Energy have an association with American company Independent Media who specialize in crossing over features talent into commercials, giving Dark Energy, the ability to offer Hollywood A listers, including Doug Liman (Bourne Identity, and this summers blockbuster Edge of Tomorrow) for the UK commercials market.

Matt Brown, founder of Dark Energy, brings a multi discipline experience, having worked initially in Post production and then on the TV show “01 for London”  After that he moved onto producing Music Videos for Indy and Metal bands.  He also ended up doing loads of shoots for the then nascent MTV.  He went on to set up a short film production company which tied in with the Levi’s backed short film scheme Firesign to produce short films which were given a guaranteed cinema release. This lead to the launch of a number of high profile directors. He then moved into commercials. In the late 90’s he joined The End / Harry Nash and then followed former Head of Sales, Kate Elson, to her Production Company Bikini Films. He went on to work at Generator Films.
