Move over Mick Jagger, it appears you ain’t the only one desperate to ‘Paint It Black’. The new commercial for Guinness sees various noir-obsessed party-goers show their love for the black stuff by turning their surroundings noir.
Somesuch & Co’s Daniel Wolfe is the director behind this spot, which sees cars, houses, roads and bunting smeared in thick black gloop. Entitled Paint The Town, there’s a lively soundtrack and party atmosphere. The spot reaches a finale as the town elder shouts ‘To Arthur’, a reference to Guinness founder Arthur Guinness.
The campaign is building up towards ‘Arthur’s Day’ 2012, which falls on the 27th and 28th of September. Guinness – and ad agency Saatchi & Saatchi – have nominated these two days to celebrate the work of Arthur Guinness and his legacy.
