WORK Editorial has announced the addition of Dan de Winter to its roster. Dan is based in New York and represented by WORK Editorial globally.

Growing up in Amsterdam, Dan always had a love for the moving image and was drawn to the US, so in 2006 he enrolled at the Academy of Arts in San Francisco where he studied motion graphics and went on to major in Cinematography. After college he stayed on in SF where he found work at the agency Cutwater as an assistant editor. After three years of cutting there, he moved to New York. Having been inspired by the work of editor Angus Wall he joined RPS as an assistant to Biff Butler, who he is reunited with at Work! Dan was promoted to editor at RPS in 2013.

"Editing really is the part of the process I was most drawn to, bringing a story to life with whatever footage you have. The building blocks are all in front of you, it's a matter of digging till you find that hidden gem.” said Dan, who has always had a love for the advertising process too. “The amount of great individual projects is just fantastic, each offering up so many different challenges and working together with directors and creatives to the final part of the journey”.

Dan will be joining the New York office, with founding partner Jane Dilworth, commenting: "Dan is a truly wonderful editor with exactly the same mindset as us at WORK, it feels great to find another kindred spirit. Dan couldn’t have joined at a wonkier time but even so he’s already working away, it’s great!”

Dan is a frequent collaborator of talented directors like Savanah Leaf, Ryan Staake, Bon Duke to name a few, as well as agencies including W+K, 72 & Sunny, Droga5, and BBDO. Dan’s big breakout was a Samsung spot featuring Lebron James, directed by Andreas Nilsson for 72 & Sunny.

Like all of WORK editors, he is drawn to the craft and was especially inspired by Rich Orrick’s ‘Three Little Pigs’ spot for The Guardian, dir. Ringan Ledwidge. “I love that spot and could see the work and thought that went into creating that in the edit, to be in the creative hub of WORK amongst so many great editors inspires me”, concluded Dan.

Also a keen cyclist, if he’s not at his desk he’s out on the road...
