Distilled based on diversity stats for the creative industry, available for one night only.
A new limited-edition gin, created by London-based gin distillery, East London Liquor Company, for event D&AD R-LDN, has been distilled using data that demonstrates the lack of diversity in the creative industry.
Its 43% ABV influences the gin’s unique taste, and is based on a cumulative statistic sourced from Creative Equals’ ‘Equality Standard’ – reflecting 12% female creative directors in the industry, 5% female CCOs in the industry, 6% creatives who identify as BAME, and 20% creatives who are neurodiverse.
The gin draws its inspiration from the philosophy of R-LDN - to champion diversity in the creative industry. Only 50 bottles have been produced and will be available to try at the R-LDN Masterclass wrap party this coming Monday evening.
East London Liquor Company’s AGM, Jasmine Sumeray, said, “It is exciting for us to work with R-LDN on highlighting these statistics not only through our gin, but through a signature serve for the wrap party – a Mandarin Duran cocktail, built with the same statistics that inspired the gin, but this time reflected by a concoction of 20ml R-LDN Gin infused with pink peppercorns, 12ml mandarin juice, 6ml rhubarb juice, and 5ml pineapple juice. All built in a small rocks glass over ice, with a sprig of watercress and a crisp of rhubarb.”
R-LDN co-chair, and CCO at Mr Presdient, Laura Jordan Bambach said, “A social drink is the perfect conduit to conversations and creative thinking, and so it made sense to use an iconic British tipple to trigger discussion around diversity in the UK creative industries.”
The wrap party isn’t just an opportunity to try the limited edition gin and delicious signature cocktail. It’s also where you’ll be able to take part in the R-LDN art auction – where works by Mr Bingo, Kate Moross Dave Buonaguidi, and more will go under the hammer, and proceeds raised will go towards diversity initiatives across the globe. Works from Easle, curated by Claudine O’Sullivan, will also be up for auction.
The wrap party will be hosted in London at D&AD’s Head Office, Monday April 23rd from 6.30pm, and is open to all working in the creative industries.
