GlobalHue tapped LA based editor Barnett Kiel to cut their brand launching campaign for One Main Financial (formerly Citi-Financial), shot by the highly regarded Snorri Brothers. The spot is the first product of the new venture between editorial house Cutters and Detroit based RingSide Creative, and demonstrated to clients the fluidity of working across the multiple studios in the Cutters’ network. “This project was the ideal example of the superior level of talent and services now available to clients through the Cutters network, no matter the location,” states Mary Connolly, Executive Producer of Cutters Detroit.
The process began in Chicago, but then stretched across all the studios in the Cutters network. In LA, Barnett was able to be a part of the shoot, and then use Cutters/LA in the afternoons and evenings to scan the previous day’s dailies and begin the edit. Barnett worked for a week in the LA studios with the Snorri Brothers, and posted cuts for the agency. He then hopped over to Cutters/Detroit for the final creative edit with the team from GlobalHue, and to mix the final spot with talented mixer Jeremy Schemm of RingSide Creative’s audio group.
“As a producer, you are often seen as ‘the bad guy’…not so in this last project with Cutters,” said Lisa Bryant, the project’s Producer at GlobalHue. “I felt they were truly my ally – a go-to teammate. This was a big undertaking and an aggressive project for the budget, but I knew at any time I could ask questions, and bounce any idea off of them to help make this project (budget) work."
Rob Hendrickson, VP/Creative Director at GlobalHue summed up his experience of the new venture, “We had four complicated spots to produce, and being one of the first major projects to roll through the new Cutters organization in Detroit, we would have been fine with a few bumps in the road here and there. But the experience was exceptionally seamless. Barnett instantly gained the confidence of our clients on the set, was able to patiently answer every question about a complicated shoot and editing process, and he stayed with us through every phase of post. Everyone was helpful and professional—maybe one of the best overall post experiences I've been a part of during my long career here in Detroit.”
