Curious produced the film which will be projected alongside Emma's art pieces

Curious Productions and sculpture artist Emma Witter have collaborated during her Artist in Residence commission for HIX ART. The launch night was held yesterday to an audience of Mark Hix’s artist and creative community at the gallery below Shoreditch’s infamous Tramshed restaurant.

The body of work, titled BLOOM, derives from Emma’s insistence of the beauty of bones, which she salvages from her own cooking, and in the case of this launch, from the restaurant. After meticulously cleaning, bleaching and categorising the bones she assembles them into ornamental and floral forms.

A film projected alongside the pieces, produced by Curious Productions complements the work by highlighting the intricacy and colour palette of the sculptures. It shows how science meets nature and the level of detail that goes into crafting the pieces and the process behind it: the boiling, bubbling and bleaching.

Emma Witter said “I was absolutely thrilled when Curious agreed to produce the film and was bowled over by the treatment. Working with the team, I felt totally cocooned in creativity and care.”

Curious MD, Dean Agambar said: “We’ve worked with Emma on several campaigns over the last year and her support has made her a part of the team! The opportunity to reverse the roles and support Emma on this commission was something we didn’t hesitate to agree to.”

The pieces are now on sale in the restaurant. It’s the second time the film and photography production studio have collaborated with Emma. They co-produced ‘Crisp Flowers’ in 2017.
