Moves to 80% recycled trays for its sliced charcuterie products

This month, Creminelli Fine Meats, part of the family of charcuterie products produced by Charcuterie Artisans (https://charcuterie.com), announced that all of its sliced charcuterie products would be packaged in trays made from 80% post-consumer recycled content. The move establishes Creminelli as the sustainability leader within the charcuterie category and deli department, and is expected to result in the reuse of the equivalent of over 11 million water bottles each year that could otherwise end up in landfills and oceans.

Eric Schwartz-Johnson, chief marketing officer at Charcuterie Artisans, the parent company of Creminelli, said: “We are excited to see the hard work of so many individuals within Creminelli and our supplier partners come to life with the launch of our 80% Recycled Tray initiative. This is one of many commitments we are making to sustainability, and it will not be the last.”

To reinforce this commitment to sustainability, the brand has established a presence at this year’s SXSW Festival via the purchase of a booth and a brand activation tied to Keep Austin Fed, a local food rescue non-profit organisation dedicated to reducing hunger and helping the environment by connecting surplus food with neighbours in need (https://www.keepaustinfed.org). Creminelli chose to partner with Keep Austin Fed because of the organisation’s commitment to the community of Austin and the environment.  SXSW attendees are invited to visit the Creminelli booth at Brush Square Park to donate a packaged snack in exchange for a charcuterie-grade snack, with all snacks donated to Keep Austin Fed.  The promotional tie-in was conceived by Hanson Dodge, Creminelli’s agency-of-record.

The new 80% Recycled Trays will begin shipping in March 2022 and will be available for consumers in all retailers selling premium charcuterie in the immediate weeks to follow.
