Creative Outpost ramps up creative team as Mark Horrobin, Tim Davies and Andy Salem join its Soho operation

As part of Creative Outpost’s Picture/VFX expansion, it has welcomed three senior creatives who have joined them from Tag Collective Arts. The appointments follow the company’s recent move to its fully equipped studios in Soho and mark yet another very significant milestone for the post production facility.

Industry legend, colourist Mark Horrobin, is joining Creative Outpost alongside talented flame artist Tim Davies and experienced senior producer, Andy Salem. All three have worked with Creative Outpost’s co-founders Quentin Olszewski (Q) and Danny Etherington previously.

Mark began his career following in the footsteps of Q and Danny as a runner, before moving into grading in 1998. He also worked with Q in 2010 implementing a pioneering remote grading pipeline, over a mobile phone network, that was a world first. He sees this as a welcome move to a post house which is serious about grading and where he will have the chance to input into the company’s growth strategy.

“It’s a great opportunity to work with people I know and like, and to build something meaningful,” says Mark. “I think Creative Outpost is the perfect size for a boutique post house in this day and age. It has that sense of family and team spirit, but with room to grow. It's very exciting.

"I’m looking forward to having more of an input into strategy,  how we grow the department and secure the high-end work. With that work will come a greater creative outlet.”

Tim Davies joins Creative Outpost as senior flame/VFX artist and is looking forward to being able to focus on his creativity rather than trying to cut through the bureaucracy of a corporate machine.

“As an independent, Creative Outpost are really in control of their future,” says Tim. “This was a major attraction to me. It’s great for everyone, there’s no middle management to get through, which makes it far easier to get decisions made and work done, allowing more time to focus on the creative work in hand.”

Senior Producer, Andy Salem also brings many years’ experience to Creative Outpost’s table. He too relishes the fact that the company is not a large corporate and has ambition to grow in an organic, controlled way.

“I'm really looking forward to my work here at Creative Outpost as it’s a boutique post house,” says Andy. “It has amazing facilities and also has the ability to do end-to-end post production, both audio and picture, which is something I'll be doing, but this time it will be without any of the corporate white noise that I have had to live with on a day-to-day basis.

“I'm also looking forward to being with a company that wants to grow in a considered way, not trying to take over the world, but rather to become an even more respected post production house in London.”

Combined, the new team members have a wealth of experience across all media platforms and will play a major role in growing the existing commercial, TV and film work, as well as expanding its longform and episodic offering.

Co-founders, Q and Danny are delighted with these appointments, seeing them as an integral part of their strategy to grow the business organically, putting their clients, and their team, upfront and central to every decision that is made. They commented, "We have big plans for these guys. They are such a talented bunch and we know from working with them in the past that, together, we can achieve the creative goals we are aiming for.  We want to continue our expansion in such a way that we retain our ethos and principles of putting the client and our team first. And that is only possible when you have a trusted team working alongside you.”

“Ramping up our senior team hits at the perfect time as we expand on the Picture side of our business but also in the nurturing and mentoring of our younger talent coming through, an essential part of our strategy for growth. Having that history already with Mark, Tim and Andy, means the merging of teams will be instant and seamless".
