Coy! Communications' award-winning photographer Fern Berresford has taken her first steps into commercial directing with this film for Aldi.
Shot through McCann Manchester, the spot features a scantily-clad, firm chested man comparing premium and budget prices champagnes with his surprisingly squeaky voice.
Fern has had an exceptional year working on campaigns such as Fiat 500, winning Gold at Creative Circle for Best Photography for Luerzers Archive "Untouchable Covers" (which also gained an In-book at D&AD) & Penhaligons Movember Moustache Wax. She also won a Gold at the DMA's for the same campaign. She created a stunning 36 page programme in 2 weeks for first time playwright Anna Longaretti for the play "Sex Cells" which ran at the Riverside Studios in Hammersmith during October selling over 200 copies (apparently a first for the Studios). Fern's first short film Manmade produced for charity Ctrl: Alt: Shift was nominated for Cannes Young Director Award, Rushes Soho Short Films Newcomer and Best Director at Directing for Women.
Did Fern enjoy shooting muscle bound hunks dosed in champagne for the brand? "Hell, yes!," she exclaims.
