Today, Toronto-based creative agency Courage announced its newest key hire Shannon Miller, who will be taking on the title of executive director of development. This is the first role of its kind for the rapidly growing agency.
As the executive director of development, Shannon will play an important role in both sharing Courage’s unique creative journey through thoughtful, strategic communications as well as shaping that journey internally. As the agency continues to build and nurture its identity, Shannon will provide key support across all leadership.
"From our very first call, we knew that Shannon would be a great fit at Courage,” Dhaval Bhatt, founder and CCO, said in a statement. ”Not only does she have an incredible resume and a finger placed firmly on the pulse of the industry, her positivity and get-it-done attitude is absolutely infectious. We’re truly excited for Shannon to shape and grow Courage with us."
Shannon joins Courage from her previous post at Adweek, where she held a number of roles over the past five years, from freelance writer to her most recent appointment as managing editor of creativity, creator economy and DEI. During her time there, she witnessed and reported on existing creative trends while building a platform that called for industry-wide equity, inclusion and consistency. Outside of editorial, Shannon was a regular event moderator and interviewer, an integral voice across the publication’s awards properties, and the creator and host of its DEI podcast, Off Madison, as well as the co-host of its flagship show, Yeah, That’s Probably An Ad.
In her new role, she will translate her previous experience and understanding of the current creative landscape into strategies and outreach that will communicate Courage’s story and many accomplishments in Canada, the U.S., and beyond.
Said Shannon: “As a person who has covered the industry for over five years, the fervent passion for creativity that the entirety of the Courage team exudes is something that is truly rare. In meeting them, I was instantly endeared to their story and knew almost immediately that I wanted to be a part of it. I couldn’t be more excited to help Courage and its work connect with the rest of the world.”
Shannon’s addition signals a vital moment in Courage’s growth trajectory as the agency continues to expand its visibility beyond its Canadian roots. In the 10 months since its establishment, the team has secured major blue chip client wins with brands like KFC, CIBC, Nescafe and more. Now powered by over 40 employees and counting, Courage remains equipped to keep up with growing client demands in a climate that requires nimbleness and a sharp perspective.
