Concord Music Publishing's Sara Lord connects via the power of music with YEBBA's perfect track.
I was determined to not start this with that whole - 'what day of the week are we?' schtick... but time is so confusing right now. I thought it was last Thursday or next Monday and that’s why this is late!
I’m not sure why it should be so surprising, and I’m fairly sure I knew this all along but over these last few weeks, the more I listen, the more I read, the more I watch, the more I scroll - music seems to beat everything else as a common denominator. We share lists of albums that influenced us...we are listening to hours of radio and streaming playlists...we bond over great songs that mean so much to us. Songs that unite us (A number 1 for You’ll Never Walk Alone courtesy of Major Tom - I can’t tell you how many licensing requests we’ve had for that one since mid March!)...We crave connection and nearly everyone I know can’t wait to get back to a live show of some sort or other - check out this feedback Live Nation just collated - we all want to bond and connect and experience live music together!
COVID-19 Impact From Live Music Fans
And of course there are the songs that make us miss our loved one or ones... they are usually not new releases - the very nature of a song that reminds us of something or someone or some special time is that the song was around in that instant. But occasionally an artist comes along that you feel like you’ve known forever and a voice that makes you melt and lyrics that make you miss all of the above - in three minutes. Perfection. Yebba - 'Distance'. You can thank me later.
