Commercial Producers Ireland Issues Covid-19 Filming Protocol Guidelines
Commercial Producers Ireland (CPI) has released the CPI Covid-19 Filming Protocol Guidelines outlining how to work safely on set and in pre- and post-production.

As part of its daily business CPI assesses and mitigates risk to its clients, suppliers and staff so when the Covid-19 crisis hit the Irish commercials production sector, its members came together albeit virtually to discuss what they could do to ensure that they are ready to get back on set safely when permitted to do so.

The CPI is made up of over 90% of the TV commercial and branded content production and post production companies in Ireland.

Working together they prepared CPI Covid-19 Filming Protocol Guidelines outlining how we can work safely on set and in pre- and post-production. These guidelines have been informed by protocols in use by international colleagues with reference to all relevant local and WHO standards. The association also took advice from professional health and safety personnel.

The protocols cover a number of areas of production including remote working, general common sense practices, equipment/props, sanitation, crew, safety on set, radios, risk assessments, catering, locations/studios/transport, travel and post production.

The CPI has been engaging with its counterparts in IAPI and AAI throughout the process and have confirmed that they, with their members, are on board. The protocols have been sent to the Irish government with a request to be included in any updated list of businesses allowed to return to work during the early phases in the easing of restrictions.

Chairperson of the CPI (and partner and executive producer of Sweet Media), Emma O’Beirne, said: “Commercial production is an integral part of the business community in Ireland and we contribute greatly to the local economy. A resumption in filming will mean employment for many permanent and freelance workers. We are confident that the implementation of these guidelines will allow us to return to work on set safely within government regulations as soon as those regulations allow.”

CPI Safety Guidelines document is a ‘live’ document and will be updated as new information becomes available and/or regulations change. Please make sure to only use the most up to date document which can be found at: http://www.commercialproducersireland.com/covid-19/

Another recent example of the CPI working closer together is an inspirational Covid-19 film created by all the CPI talent. This film has been very well received and has been broadcast by national broadcaster RTE.
